Hoist is a device for lifting and lowering loads using devices such as crane drums, sheaves, etc., around which steel wire ropes or chains are wrapped and moved by hand, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical.
Improper use of such equipment without observing safety principles and standards and failure to assess the risk can lead to dangerous accidents such as death, serious injury and property damage.
Two important features of each crane are:
Type of power generator and type of power transmission device (slings, steel wire ropes, chains, etc.)
According to DOE standard: 2004 hoists are divided into ceiling, wall-to-floor, monorail and manual.
In this chapter, for the convenience of studying the hoists, they are divided into two types, manual and motor (electric, pneumatic) and their safety and inspection cases are examined.
