Artificial slings or belts made of nylon or polyester fibers are considered. Nylon fibers are resistant to many alkali materials and are more widely used, while polyester materials are resistant to acidic materials and are used in certain conditions. Such equipment is manufactured by industrial weaving machines. Continuous sewing is the only accepted method for making belts in many valid standards. Particularly polymeric materials are used to cover the fibers to prevent abrasion, protection against particles and foreign matter, increase the coefficient of friction and protect the belt from sunlight. Connections connected to the belt must also be strong enough to double the capacity of the belt without permanent deformation, and must be free of any sharp edges so as not to damage the belt.
